About this file
This is a Sale Advertisement issued by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service for a timber sale on Tiger Bay State Forest in Volusia County, Florida. The project involves the first thinning of 168.3 acres of 20-25-year-old planted slash pine and 6.7 acres of natural pine. In the plantation, every third row will be removed along with operator-selected trees in remaining rows to achieve a target basal area of 70 square feet per acre. In the natural pine stand, new rows will be cut 30 feet apart with widths not exceeding 20 feet, followed by operator selection of diseased, damaged, forked, suppressed, or otherwise approved trees to meet the basal area target. Logging decks and skid trails require approval from the Forester-in-Charge. The estimated volume to be removed is 8,637 tons of pine pulpwood and better, with an eighteen-month contract term. Sealed bids will be opened on October 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM EDT at 4316 W. International Speedway Boulevard, Daytona Beach, Florida 32124. Complete bid information is available by contacting Rachel Kyle at (386) 317-3278.
The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularities in bids received. Project boundaries are defined by roads, wetlands, obvious timber type changes, state forest boundaries, and fire lines. No pricing terms, set-asides, or funding information is provided in the sale advertisement. This represents a straightforward timber harvesting opportunity for qualified contractors capable of performing selective thinning operations under the oversight of the Forester-in-Charge.
