About this opportunity
Dalton Public Schools is requesting proposals for lawn care maintenance, athletic fields maintenance, and athletic fields marking services across 16 school facilities, with proposals due June 1, 2023 and a pre-bid meeting on May 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
The scope covers approximately 200+ acres of maintained grounds at six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and additional district facilities. Services include regular mowing (2–3 times monthly depending on season), pre- and post-emergent chemical weed control and fertilization, shrubbery and tree pruning (three times annually), mulch maintenance for elementary playgrounds (80 yards per school annually by July 31), athletic field maintenance using reel mowers at heights of 0.5 to 1 inch with twice-weekly mowing during growing season, and field marking for football, soccer, band, baseball, and softball fields in compliance with National Federation of State High School Associations standards. Bidders may submit separate proposals for individual service categories or combined proposals. No more than 10% of working staff may be subcontractors; 90% of work must be self-performed.
Contractors must carry comprehensive insurance including general liability ($2 million general aggregate), workers compensation, automobile liability ($1 million combined single limit), excess liability ($1 million), and environmental impairment liability ($1 million each occurrence / $2 million aggregate). All employees must pass background checks and comply with E-Verify immigration requirements. Equipment lists with hourly rates guaranteed for the contract term are required.
The initial contract runs July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with automatic renewal for four additional one-year terms unless either party elects not to renew by April 30 of each year. Monthly pricing is required with payment on net 30 terms and a 2% discount for payments within 10 days of invoice. Renewal pricing must be equal to or less than current-year contract pricing. Evaluation criteria include Phase I mandatory requirement compliance screening followed by Phase II technical evaluation (completeness of forms, personnel and equipment list, service history and reference quality, and experience with comparable contracts) combined with cost considerations.
