About this opportunity
The City of Santa Cruz is procuring fifty-six waste receptacles and thirty-eight recycling receptacles for its downtown area through Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. PR-0012, which aligns with the city's Downtown Site Furnishing Standards initiative. The specific procurement requires Securr CG35 outdoor cart garages in precise color specifications: waste receptacles in RAL 7045 "Telegrau 1" gray and recycling receptacles in RAL 5012 "Lichtblau" blue. Key objectives include reducing visual clutter and improving downtown design as part of the Downtown Recovery - Phase I-IV project. Bidders must provide references demonstrating experience with similar receptacles and comply with the city's environmental conservation goals. Critical dates include a question and clarification deadline of September 6, 2023, with bid submissions due September 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, followed by a public bid opening at 3:00 p.m. the same day. Evaluation criteria appear to emphasize vendor experience, environmental practices, and ability to meet precise technical specifications for the receptacles.
The procurement does not explicitly indicate set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises, though the bid documents suggest a preference for vendors with Green Business certifications or alternative fuel service vehicles. The city anticipates awarding the contract to a single vendor and has allocated funds from its Fiscal Year 2023 budget for the project. The contract includes a robust 10-year warranty or manufacturer's standard warranty, whichever is longer. While specific budget ranges are not detailed, the procurement involves fifty-six waste and thirty-eight recycling receptacles, suggesting a moderate-scale investment. The receptacles will be constructed of galvannealed steel with U.V. resistant powder-coated finishes and include optional customization through vinyl wraps via a local art program. Potential bidders should note that no minimum order quantities are permitted, and the city seeks a comprehensive solution that integrates with existing downtown infrastructure and aesthetic standards.
