About this opportunity

The Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC) is seeking proposals from qualified providers to deliver comprehensive physician services, including medical examinations, treatment, and consultation, for the inmate population at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women (VCCW). The initial contract term is one year with the possibility of four one-year renewal options. Proposals are due by July 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. EST/EDST and should outline the provider's ability to meet the stated scope of services, acceptance of the contractual terms, relevant credentials and experience, and subcontracting plan if applicable. The VDOC is seeking a provider to deliver up to 24 hours per week of physician care and services for approximately 600 female inmates. The contract will be awarded based on the provider's ability to meet the requirements, demonstrated clinical experience, professional certifications, and acceptance of the contractual terms.

The VDOC will consider proposals from DSBSD-certified small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses. Pricing is negotiable, and the VDOC will pay the contracted provider, who will be responsible for any subcontractors or alternates. The current incumbent provider is ABC Medical Services, and the VDOC has budgeted $2.5 million annually for the physician services.
