About this opportunity
The Palm Beach County Department of Airports is soliciting sealed bids for the DJT Airfield Vault Building Expansion at President Donald J Trump International Airport, with bids due October 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time. Addendum 2 extended the original October 6 deadline; bidder questions were due October 7, and a final addendum will issue by October 9.
No Disadvantaged Business Enterprise goal has been established under the Interim Final Rule effective October 3, 2025, though Palm Beach County encourages participation by all qualifying firms, including Small Business Concerns. All bidders must be licensed in accordance with Florida law at the time of bid submission.
The scope encompasses expansion of the existing airfield electrical vault by approximately 2,500 square feet, including interior renovation of approximately 980 square feet of existing structure and roof replacement. Work includes modifications to existing HVAC and Fire Protection systems; relocation of existing regulators, the Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS), fiber optic cable, power and communication wiring; replacement of the standby emergency power generator as an additive alternate; and installation of interior and exterior signage with specific ADA-compliant specifications. The base bid contains 53 line items; the additive alternate comprises 14 additional items.
The contract duration is 290 calendar days total: 140 days for mobilization and procurement, 120 days for construction to substantial completion, and 30 days for final acceptance. Liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day apply for delays in each phase. The prime contractor must perform a minimum of 25 percent of work with its own direct-hire forces. The project is subject to Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements under General Decision Number FL20260220 (May 18, 2026).
Bid security of not less than 5 percent of the bid price is required as certified check, cashier's check, money order, or bid bond. The pre-bid conference was held September 23, 2026. Contract documents are available through the County's Vendor Self-Service Website; secure contract drawings require a Non-Disclosure Agreement from AECOM, the Engineer of Record. Contractor access to the airfield operations area requires photo identification badges at contractor expense and mandatory movement area training for flaggers.
