About this opportunity
Southgate Community Schools is seeking proposals for a District Wide Marquee Signage Project located in Wayne County, Michigan, specifically targeting five elementary schools: Allen, North Pointe, Grogan, Fordline, and Shelters. The procurement involves comprehensive signage and electrical installation work, requiring contractors to remove existing signs, provide new electrical wiring, extend electrical conduits, install new lighting contactors, and implement internally illuminated monument signs with specific technical requirements. Proposed marquee signs must feature a surface-mounted 10mm pixel display with cellular communication, full color capabilities, brightness up to 10,000 cd/m2, and a minimum 5-year manufacturer's warranty. The Request for Proposal (RFP) mandates a pre-proposal meeting on April 19th, 2024, at Grogan Elementary School, with sealed proposals due on May 1st, 2024, at 3:00 PM EST. Potential bidder interviews are scheduled for May 2nd, 2024, with project commencement targeted after school ends on June 7th, 2024, and completion expected by August 23rd, 2024.
Contractor qualifications are stringent, requiring businesses to have been operational for at least five consecutive years, be licensed in Michigan, and possess documented experience in educational sector signage projects. Specifically, contractors must have completed similar signage projects valued at a minimum of $250,000 for five educational clients within the past decade. Bidders must submit multiple notarized documents, including Familial Disclosure, Iran Disclosure, Non-Collusive Affidavit, Equal Opportunity, and Criminal Background Disclosure Affidavits. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned, the RFP emphasizes comprehensive background check requirements for all personnel. The bidding documents, prepared by Plante Moran Realpoint, will be available for viewing on April 15th, 2024, through the e-Builder site. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any bids and can award the contract to a non-low bidder. Though a specific budget range was not disclosed, the project encompasses five separate signage installations with complex electrical and architectural integration requirements.
