About this opportunity
Chippewa Valley Schools, a public school district in Clinton Township, Michigan, is requesting proposals for district-wide fire alarm services under RFP 2.2627, with sealed bids due July 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
The scope covers full-service fire alarm panel inspections, repairs, and maintenance across 26 school buildings and approximately 4,400 fire alarm devices, including elementary, middle, and high schools, stadiums, and administrative buildings. All work must comply with NFPA codes and standards. Services require EST and Gamewell fire alarm systems expertise; personnel must be licensed, factory-trained, and authorized. Response times are required within four hours for emergency calls, 24 hours for urgent requests, and 48 hours for routine service requests.
The initial contract period runs August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027, with an option for five additional one-year renewals by mutual agreement. Pricing must be submitted on a per-building basis for base-year inspection services, with separate hourly rates for straight-time and overtime repair labor and a cost-plus markup structure for parts and materials. Price increases at renewal are capped at the Employment Cost Index (Bureau of Labor Statistics) or 5 percent, whichever is lower. There is no guaranteed annual volume; actual expenditures depend on available funds and district needs.
Vendors must maintain comprehensive insurance: $1,000,000 commercial general liability, $1,000,000 commercial auto liability, and $2,000,000 umbrella coverage, with the district named as additional insured. Two voluntary alternates are offered: roll-up door inspections across district facilities and an internet reporting system beyond the standard www.buildingreports.com platform.
The district reserves the right to award to a single vendor, multiple vendors, or make no award based on best value. All proposals must remain firm for 90 days from bid opening. Questions are due July 6, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. to Lillian Grayson, Purchasing Coordinator. Bids will be publicly opened July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the district office. Board approval and contract commencement are anticipated in August 2026.
