About this opportunity

Nicholas County, Kentucky is requesting bids for demolition services on Powell County Parcel 6 under RFB 605 2700000052, with bids due August 26, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time and work to commence within three days of award. The project is federally funded through the Federal Highway Administration and subject to Davis-Bacon wage rate determinations and Buy America/Build America, Buy America Act requirements, with a DBE goal of 0 percent.

The scope is removal and disposal of a one-story concrete commercial building (1,290 square feet, metal roof, concrete block exterior with vinyl siding on rear, concrete slab foundation) located at 725 Furnace Rd., Stanton, Kentucky; a wood-framed sign concreted into the ground; and a private septic system. All concrete must be removed; gravel remains in place. Bidders must conduct independent property inspections prior to submission. No mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held.

Demolition must be completed within 30 consecutive calendar days, with penalties of $500 per day for seven calendar days; thereafter the contract may be cancelled. Bidders select either "Amount Due Bidder" or "Amount Due State" depending on whether disposal costs exceed salvage value, submitting a lump sum total on the attached bid sheet.

Required insurance includes Commercial General Liability Insurance ($1,000,000 per occurrence, $2,000,000 aggregate) and Automobile Liability Insurance where applicable. A performance bond or irrevocable letter of credit is required in the amount of the contract or $10,000, whichever is greater. Compliance obligations include Kentucky 811 utility notification with $200 penalty for non-compliance, septic tank pumping documentation ($200 penalty for non-compliance), hazardous materials protocols, and refrigerant recovery procedures.

Written questions are due August 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Tentative award is August 31, 2026. Payment is within thirty working days of invoice receipt and work acceptance. All bids must be submitted electronically through Kentucky Vendor Self Service; bidders must be registered in the eProcurement system prior to submission.
