About this opportunity

Brevard County Purchasing Services is requesting sealed bids for complete demolition of a former motel facility in Micco, Florida under ITB B-2-26-38, with bids due May 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. and a mandatory pre-bid walkthrough on April 28, 2026 at 3:30 p.m.

The scope encompasses demolition and removal of a two-story main building and duplex structure (4,759 square feet, approximately 30 feet maximum height) plus all accessory structures at 8820 US Highway 1, including foundations, footings, walls, roofs, septic tanks, drain fields, and grease traps. The contractor must obtain all required permits from Brevard County and the Florida Department of Health for septic system abandonment. Asbestos and lead-based paint surveys found neither contaminant in excess of regulatory thresholds. Wet demolition is required using contractor-supplied water; the site must be reseeded with Bahia grass and maintained with a four-foot temporary barrier fence.

The contractor must hold a Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) or Brevard County license as a General Contractor, Building Contractor, or Demolition Contractor at time of bid opening and throughout contract performance. Pricing shall be a firm lump sum for base bid (covering all labor, materials, equipment, and transportation) plus a unit price per cubic yard for clean fill dirt, with 400 cubic yards estimated in the base bid. A bid bond of 5% of the proposed amount and a public construction bond of 100% of contract price (due within ten days of execution) are mandatory. All prices remain firm for 90 days from bid opening; FOB destination delivery to the County is required.

The contractor has 150 calendar days from Notice to Proceed to substantial completion (including a 14-day permitting period), plus 30 additional days for final completion. The apparent low bidder must submit pre-qualification documentation within five business days of bid opening, including AIA Document A305 Qualification Statement, audited financial statements, key personnel resumes, and E-Verify Memorandum of Understanding. General Liability, Auto Liability, and Workers' Compensation Insurance are required per specifications. Questions are due May 8, 2026 by 5:00 p.m. Bids are submitted to Brevard County Purchasing Services, 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Building C, Suite C-303, Viera, FL 32940, or via myvendorlink.com.
