About this opportunity

The City of Temple, Texas is requesting bids on the complete demolition of a residential structure at 803 S. 26th Street under ITB funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), with bids due October 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. CST and an optional but highly recommended pre-bid meeting on September 16 at 11:30 a.m. CST at the property location.

The scope includes demolition and proper disposal of the house, all concrete and flatwork, fallen trees and timber, and miscellaneous debris (excluding fences); removal of excavation holes with backfill of clean soil for proper drainage; and diversion of surface drainage to an approved location. The awarded contractor must complete all work within 30 calendar days of receiving the Notice to Proceed. The City will coordinate disconnection of electric, water, and natural gas utilities prior to demolition but requires the contractor to verify disconnection before commencing work. The contractor must file the required 10-working-day notification with the Texas Department of State Health Services before beginning demolition; the City covers DSHS fees excluding penalty fees resulting from contractor non-compliance.

The estimated probable cost is $9,744, with pricing submitted on a lump-sum basis. The contract will be awarded in its entirety to a single contractor; the City reserves the right to remove properties via change order if necessary. Liquidated damages are assessed at $63 per day for work not completed by the scheduled deadline. Payment is made within 30 days of final acceptance.

The project is subject to Davis-Bacon wage requirements, Equal Employment Opportunity provisions, and applicable federal CDBG certifications. The contractor must provide Workers Compensation (statutory with $100,000 employer's liability), Commercial Liability ($500,000 per occurrence), and Automobile Liability ($500,000 per occurrence), with the City named as an additional insured. Written questions are due September 24 at 12:00 p.m. CST. The City anticipates award in November 2026.
