About this opportunity
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is seeking a qualified contractor to perform comprehensive demolition services for a commercial property located at 106 W. 24th Street in Pueblo, Colorado. The procurement involves complete removal of a 4,040 square foot commercial building with a 598 square foot basement, a 780 square foot detached two-car garage, and associated infrastructure including an asphalt-paved parking area, building signage, fencing, two 46.17-foot monopole radio broadcast towers, and two concrete storage tank pads. The demolition requires total removal of all building components, including interior materials such as drywall, wood paneling, various flooring types, and exterior stucco, as well as complete extraction of foundations, footings, and slabs. Electronic bids are due on November 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM Mountain Time through CDOT's Procurement Website (BidNet), with contractors required to register on the platform to access bidding opportunities. A mandatory Bid Bond is required since the project exceeds $50,000, and contractors must also provide Performance and Labor and Material bonds due to the project's estimated cost exceeding $150,000.
The contract opportunity does not explicitly outline specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The project requires careful handling of hazardous materials, as an asbestos survey identified three asbestos-containing materials that must be professionally abated prior to demolition, which will be managed by CDOT. While a specific budget range is not disclosed, the requirement for Performance Bonds suggests the project likely has a substantial financial scope. Contractors must demonstrate capabilities in comprehensive demolition, hazardous material management, and adherence to strict removal protocols. The project is located in Ouray County, Colorado, with the demolition site specifically in Pueblo, and interested contractors must show technical proficiency in dismantling complex commercial structures while maintaining environmental and safety standards. Bidders are expected to thoroughly review all project documentation, including the Asbestos Survey and Lead-Based Paint Sampling report, and acknowledge receipt of all addenda on their bid submission.
