About this opportunity
Dorchester County Department of Public Works in Maryland is soliciting sealed bids under Bid No. 2026-16 for crushed stone supply, with bids due by 3:00 P.M. on Monday, November 9, 2026, at the Dorchester County Council Office, 501 Court Lane, Room 108, Cambridge, Maryland 21613, where bids will be publicly opened and read. The solicitation carries no set-aside or preference program.
The County requires five stone types, each priced per ton: AASHTO #3 or MD #2 (600 tons annually), AASHTO #57 or MD #6 (400 tons annually), Washed AASHTO #8 or MD #7 (4,000 tons annually), AASHTO #10 or MD #10 (1,000 tons annually), and MD CR6 or GASAB (2,000 tons annually). Material must meet current Maryland State Highway Administration specifications, except that MD #10 must contain a minimum of 9 percent 200-mesh material. Delivery is to the Department of Public Works facility at 5435 Handley Road, Cambridge, Maryland, on an F.O.B. shipping point basis from the supplier's location. The successful bidder must deliver approximately 300 tons minimum daily; failure to meet this requirement results in invoice deductions to cover additional County staff costs. Invoices are payable within 30 days of delivery and must match copies of delivery tickets.
Bidders must submit a 5% bid bond with their proposal and, if awarded, a performance bond equal to the total bid amount. Bids must use the County's Standard Bidding Form and include an Affidavit of Qualification certifying that the bidder and related parties have no convictions or admissions related to bribery or conspiracy to bribe under Maryland or federal law. A certificate of insurance and W-9 are required. The County is exempt from excise and sales taxes, and the awardee must bill fuels free of applicable taxes.
The base term runs from November 2026 through November 30, 2028, with an optional one-year extension at the same prices, subject to County approval and 30 days' notice before expiration. The County reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities, and award based on lowest bid, quality of goods, delivery time, bidder responsibility, previous experience, or other factors it deems appropriate. Questions go to Stephanie Newcomb at 410-228-2920 or snewcomb@dorchestermd.gov.
