About this opportunity

The Illinois Department of Transportation is requesting bids for crack and joint sealing on 14.85 miles of I-155, I-55, and IL 108, with electronic bids due July 31, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. via the iCX-Integrated Contractors Exchange system (Contract No. 72372). The work is federally funded through the National Highway Performance Program (NHPP-EY42(841)) and classified as District 6 Construction.

The DBE participation goal is 0.00 percent; bidders must submit a DBE Utilization Plan documenting either sufficient DBE participation to meet the goal or good faith efforts to achieve it, along with applicable DBE Participation Statements for each committed DBE firm. Payment for work will be made according to contract unit prices, with traffic control paid on a lump sum basis.

The scope spans I-155 from 2 miles south of US 136 to the Tazewell County Line; I-55 from 0.8 miles north of IL 16 to 0.6 miles north of IL 108; and IL 108 at the I-55 interchange. All traffic control signs and devices must be new or like new and meet current reflectivity standards. Changeable message signs are required for each direction of travel on I-55 and I-155 where construction occurs. At least one lane must remain open to traffic at all times during crack sealing operations, with minimum 12-foot lanes on interchange ramps. Mainline closures on I-55 are permitted only during specified hours: 9:00 p.m. Sunday through 6:00 a.m. Monday and 7:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, with no closures from 6:00 a.m. Friday through 9:00 p.m. Sunday. Contractors must contact District 6 Bureau of Operations at least 72 hours in advance of beginning work and three weeks prior to implementing traffic control.

The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The contractor must provide documented proof of DBE payments and submit final payment agreements within 30 calendar days of final payment by the Department.
