About this opportunity
The Illinois Department of Transportation is requesting competitive sealed bids for highway construction at the intersection of Business Route 24 (FAS 368) Eureka Road and CH6 (FAS 470) Dee Mack Road in Tazewell County, converting the existing two-way stop control to all-way stop control, with electronic bids due September 18, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. via the iCX (Integrated Contractors Exchange) system. This is a federal-aid construction contract subject to prevailing wage, equal employment opportunity, and DBE participation provisions.
The project scope includes converting two-way to all-way stop control with red-flashing beacons; installing stop ahead signs with dual flashing beacons; performing lighting upgrades; widening intersection radii; constructing 4-foot wide Hot-Mix Asphalt shoulders with 2-foot aggregate wedge shoulders; installing new pavement markings; and removing and replacing an 18-inch pipe culvert running east/west under the south side of the CH6/Dee Mack Road southbound approach. The project is approximately 0.221 miles in length and is funded through Construction Funds with HSIP-GRDI(268) project designation in IDOT District 4.
The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Work restrictions prohibit lane closures on Business Route 24 or Dee Mack Road between December 1, 2026, and March 1, 2027, without Engineer approval. The contractor must coordinate with utility companies for electrical service installation, provide traffic control and protection, perform quality control testing for Portland Cement Concrete mixtures with electronic reporting, and establish construction layout benchmarks. Payment is made at contract unit prices as specified in the bid documents. The contract documents reference the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (effective January 1, 2022, revised January 1, 2026), supplemental specifications, recurring special provisions, and project-specific special provisions.
