About this opportunity
The City of Columbus, Indiana is requesting bids for construction of a 24-foot-wide asphalt vehicle service road at Columbus Municipal Airport, with bids due June 5, 2026.
The vehicle service road will connect the westside of the south apron to an existing hangar taxilane just south of Taxiway F on the westside of the airfield. The road will be located inside and immediately adjacent to newly constructed perimeter fencing, positioned outside critical airspace surfaces and beneath the approach of Runway 5. The project scope includes site preparation, asphalt placement, and stormwater infrastructure installation, including storm pipe, inlets, and manholes, sized to properly drain areas around the proposed drive. All work must comply with airport standards and FAA requirements for airfield safety and operations.
The project is located in Bartholomew County, Indiana. Technical specifications and construction standards are detailed in the attached project specification document (3-18-0012-044-2026.pdf). Funding and contract award timelines are referenced in the procurement documentation.
Opportunity text
The proposed 24-foot wide, asphalt vehicle service road (VSR) will be located inside and immediately adjacent to the newly constructed perimeter fencing. The VSR will connect the westside of the south apron to an existing hangar taxilane just south of Taxiway F on the westside of the airfield. The VSR will remain outside of any critical airspace surfaces and under the approach of Runway 5. The new VSR will allow for airfield vehicle traffic to traverse the airfield without traveling on pavements open to aircraft traffic. Stormwater infrastructure, including storm pipe, inlets and manholes, will be constructed, as needed, to properly drain the areas around the proposed asphalt drive.
