About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting sealed bids for concrete T-wall sections with bids due September 3, 2008.
The scope covers concrete T-wall construction for Bridge #0572 (Messer Bridge) in Union, Knox County, including T-walls at heights ranging from 4'-0" to 5'-0", stub guardrail post installation at 3'-1½" intervals, new concrete curbing and widening, concrete footings and pads, and site preparation work. Reinforcing steel must conform to ASTM A615 Grade 60 specifications with minimum 2" clearance; all exposed concrete edges must be chamfered. The work includes saw cutting and removing existing pavement to depths of 2" or greater (minimum 6" in front of existing curb), drilling and grouting dowel bars into existing ledge and curb elements, and placement of hot bituminous pavement to match existing grade and crossslope. All new and disturbed sideslopes require loaming and seeding. The detailed reinforcing steel schedule specifies multiple bar sizes, quantities, and spacing requirements throughout the structural elements.
Bidders must submit separate unit prices on prescribed forms or electronic media. The State reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive formalities and technicalities, award items individually or as a group, and increase or decrease ordered quantities by up to 10%. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value. All transportation charges, including freight and express delivery, must be prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine State Sales and Use Taxes; bidders should quote prices excluding these taxes. Cash discounts under 20 days will not be considered in awards. All hazardous chemicals supplied must include current material safety data sheets per Maine's Chemical Substance Identification Law. Questions are due prior to the bid deadline. Bids must be received by the closing date and time; late submissions will not be considered.
