About this opportunity
The State of Maine, Division of Purchases is requesting bids on a composite fiberglass utility body with liftgate, due April 28, 2009. Maine grants preference to in-state bidders and those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine when price, quality, availability, and other factors are equal.
The scope is a composite fiberglass utility body to be installed on a 2009 Ford F350SD Super Duty truck (6.4-liter diesel, 13,000 GVW, four-wheel-drive, dual rear wheel). The body measures 132 inches long, 94 inches wide, and 40 inches high with fiberglass composite construction over steel understructure, 1/8-inch steel treadplate floor, and a 1,500-pound capacity liftgate with 56-inch by 26-inch aluminum platform and tapered ramp. Compartments span front transverse, intermediate shelving on both sides, wheel-well horizontals, and rear with slide-out tool trays; all include lighting, ventilation, drains, and stainless steel hardware. Exterior finish is Ford school bus yellow (84S53) with white interior compartments. The package includes FMVSS lighting (flush-mounted tail and backup), Class IV drop receiver trailer hitch (10,000-pound rated), aluminum diesel fuel fill cone, wheel chock holders, backup alarm, seven-way RV-style trailer connector, and loose spare tire mount. All electrical connections must use heat shrink and heavy-duty wire loom — no Scotch-Lok connectors permitted. Installation and pickup/delivery to Augusta are included.
Bids must include separate unit prices with all transportation prepaid, exclude federal and Maine sales taxes, and remain firm for 20 days or more cash discount terms. The Division reserves the right to adjust quantities up to 10 percent and award to the lowest responsible bidder considering best value. Submission is electronic to the Division of Purchases, Room 119, State Office Building, Augusta.
