About this opportunity

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is requesting sealed bids for chiller replacement at Albemarle Correctional Institution, with proposals due June 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the NCDAC Central Engineering office in Raleigh. Attendance at a mandatory pre-bid meeting on May 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the facility is required; failure to attend disqualifies bidders.

The scope involves replacing two 140-ton cooling towers, two 140-ton water-cooled chillers, and one 40-ton air-cooled chiller with two 170-ton air-cooled chillers. Work is performed at Albemarle Correctional Institution in Stanly County. Bids must include identification of minority business participation with either Affidavit A or B; failure to complete these forms is grounds for rejection.

General contractors must hold appropriate licensing classification for Unlimited under North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 87, Article 1. Bidders must submit a cash deposit or certified check equal to not less than 5 percent of the proposal amount, or alternatively a bid bond of 5 percent executed by a surety company licensed in North Carolina. Performance and payment bonds equivalent to 100 percent of the contract price are required. Payment will be made based on 95 percent of monthly estimates with final payment upon completion and acceptance of work. Bids are lump-sum on a single prime contract basis and may not be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for a period of 60 days. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
