About this opportunity

The Suwannee River Water Management District (the District) is seeking experienced contractors to apply chemical herbicides on District lands for pine timber release, timber stand improvement, and site preparation purposes. The application of chemical herbicides is an important tool used by the District to control woody vegetation and ensure the survival, growth, and development of pine timber, as well as the successful application of prescribed fire. The District plans to award contracts to the lowest responsive and responsible bidders within each of the four service regions who demonstrate the necessary skill, ability, integrity, and reliability to perform the work. Bids are due by June 21, 2023, and the anticipated contract start date is July 15, 2023. The initial contract term is for three years, with the potential for two subsequent one-year renewals based on contractor performance and the District's funding availability.

The procurement is open to all qualified contractors, and there are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. Bidders are required to document their experience with similar forestry-related herbicide projects, as well as provide information on their available equipment and field supervisors. Pricing for the various chemical application prescriptions is requested for four service regions. Successful bidders will be required to provide workers' compensation, motor vehicle liability, and general liability insurance coverage prior to contract execution. The total contract value will depend on the District's herbicide application needs and the pricing provided by the selected contractors within each service region.

Opportunity text

The Suwannee River Water Management District (District) is accepting bids from experienced Contractors to apply chemical herbicides on District lands for pine timber release, timber stand improvement (TSI), and site preparation purposes. The application of chemical herbicides is an important tool used to control woody vegetation ensuring both established pine and pine seedlings survive to maturity and that the site meets its Desired Future Condition. Excessive hardwood competition within treatment areas can negatively affect the survival, growth, and development of the pine timber, inhibit the successful application of prescribed fire, and increase fuel loading.
