About this opportunity

The Florida Department of Health's Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) is pursuing a single-source procurement for Cepheid MTB/RIF Assay kits, specifically the Cepheid Cat. No. GMTB/RIF-US-10, to be used with their existing Cepheid GeneXpert system. The procurement is designed to acquire molecular assay kits for rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and Rifampin resistance, with a focus on testing sputum samples for tuberculosis and associated genetic mutations. The procurement is specifically targeting a three-year term, with the solicitation posted on September 12, 2025, and a response deadline of October 3, 2025. Key objectives include maintaining the department's ability to conduct precise tuberculosis testing using compatible molecular diagnostic technology. The procurement is being conducted in accordance with 60A-1.045 Florida Administrative Code and is specific to Leon County. Evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed, but the procurement appears to be structured as a direct single-source acquisition with Cepheid as the sole potential vendor.

The procurement appears to be unrestricted in terms of set-aside designations or specific enterprise requirements. Cepheid is identified as the global sole manufacturer and supplier of GeneXpert Technology, which effectively limits potential respondents. The document specifically invites prospective vendors to provide information about their ability to supply the described commodities or services, though the single-source nature of the procurement suggests limited competitive opportunities. The estimated dollar amount for this acquisition is $315,000.00, covering the three-year procurement period. The procurement is justified based on two primary factors: the Cepheid assay kits are the only kits compatible with the GeneXpert system used by the TB section, and Cepheid is the exclusive global manufacturer of this specific technology. The existing infrastructure includes the Department of Health's current Cepheid GeneXpert system, which will require continued compatible assay kit support.

Opportunity text

The Department of Health's, Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) has a need to purchase assay kits compatible with the Departments Cepheid GeneXpert system and test algorithm. Cepheid Cat. No. GMTB/RIF-US-10 is used to test for rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and Rifampin resistance. This is a semi-quantitative nested real-time PCR used for the detection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis complex DNA in sputum samples and the detection of Rifampin resistance associated mutations of the rpoB gene in samples from patients at risk for rifampin resistance.

In accordance with 60A-1.045 Florida Administrative Code, the Department of Health's BPHL requests authorization to purchase, as a single source, Cepheid Xpert GMTB/RIF-US-10 Assay kits.
