About this file
This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) document from the Florida Department of Health, specifically involving the Division of Disease Control and Health Protection's Bureau of Public Health Laboratories. The document outlines a single-source procurement for Cepheid MTB/RIF Assay kits, specifically the Cepheid Cat. No. GMTB/RIF-US-10, which are molecular assay kits used for rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and Rifampin resistance. The procurement is for a three-year term, with the document posted on 9/12/2025 and the last day for receipt of information being 10/3/2025. The procurement is for use with the Department's Cepheid GeneXpert system and will involve testing sputum samples for tuberculosis and related genetic mutations.
The estimated dollar amount for this single-source acquisition is $315,000.00, with Cepheid identified as the sole manufacturer and supplier of the GeneXpert Technology. The justification for the single-source procurement is based on two key points: (1) the Cepheid assay kits are the only kits compatible with the GeneXpert system used by the TB section, and (2) Cepheid is the global sole manufacturer and supplier of GeneXpert Technology, including both systems and assays. The document invites prospective vendors to provide information about their ability to supply the described commodities or services, with the potential for the agency to review and confirm the single-source status.
