About this opportunity

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Parks & Recreation is requesting sealed bids for campground improvements at Hanging Rock State Park in Surry County, with proposals due June 10, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at the park Visitor Center in Danbury. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit are scheduled for May 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Bidders must identify minority business participation and submit either Affidavit A or B; failure to complete these forms results in bid rejection.

The scope includes demolition of one existing pit toilet and two existing shower houses, and replacement with two new 1,260-square-foot shower houses, each with four new parking spaces. The project adds one new ADA campsite adjacent to each shower house and improvements to 71 existing campsites. Optional alternates include wood tongue-and-groove walls in lieu of painted gypsum in restrooms, ceramic tile floors in lieu of sealed concrete, landscape timber replacement at non-ADA campsites, and installation of OFCI campsite furnishings and equipment at 71 non-ADA campsites.

Bids must be submitted as lump sum from single prime contractors. Bidders must submit a bid deposit of 5 percent of the proposal amount in cash, certified check, or bid bond, retained as liquidated damages if the successful bidder fails to execute the contract within ten days of award. Performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract price are required. Payment is made based on 95 percent of monthly estimates with final payment upon completion and acceptance. Plan sets are available from Accent Imaging after May 11, 2026 for a refundable $150 deposit. All contractors must maintain proper state licensing for their respective trades; general contractors must hold a building classification license.
