About this opportunity
The Village of Mexico, New York, is requesting proposals for cabinetry and countertops for six suite-style apartments at the Beck's Hotel Redevelopment Project, with proposals due August 18, 2026 at noon and a mandatory walk-through on July 28, 2026. MWBE participation is required at 30 percent and SDVOB participation at 6 percent — both are hard participation goals, not targets. Questions are due August 5, 2026 at noon.
The scope encompasses furnishing and installing kitchen base and wall cabinets, bathroom vanities, solid surface countertops, backsplashes, and hardware for a mixed-use historic hotel renovation (full-service restaurant and banquet facility on the first floor, six apartment/short-stay suites on the second floor). Cabinet boxes must utilize plywood with concealed hinges and full-extension drawer slides; particleboard and MDF are prohibited. All vanities and countertops must be moisture-resistant, factory-finished, and free of defects. Contractors must submit a lump-sum base bid with cabinet manufacturer specifications, door styles, finish selections, countertop and vanity top material descriptions, and lead times.
Proposers must provide proof of MWBE and SDVOB certification and submit detailed utilization plans demonstrating how diversity participation goals will be met. Required insurance includes commercial general liability of $2 million aggregate, business automobile liability of $1 million, workers' compensation at New York State minimums, and professional liability of $1 million.
Evaluation criteria are relevant experience with rehabilitation, mixed-use, or historic projects; understanding of project scope; staffing and coordination approach; cost proposal; ability to meet diversity participation goals; project schedule; and references. The contract is funded through the Restore NY Communities Initiative administered by Empire State Development. No incumbent contractor has been awarded an identical or substantially similar contract within the past five years.
