About this opportunity
The California Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking bids for the Lake Perris SRA (WCI) Alessandro Island Picnic Ramada's Project, a comprehensive design-build contract involving the fabrication and installation of 18 picnic ramadas on Alessandro Island. This Invitation for Bid (IFB) requires a B - General Building Contractor license and focuses on replacing existing structures with 12'x12' ramadas constructed using steel and sustainable materials designed to last over 20 years with minimal maintenance. The project involves strategic placement of ramadas around restrooms and key island locations to maximize visitor experience, with the State providing boat ferry services and concrete mixers to facilitate contractor access and work. Key procurement dates include a mandatory pre-bid conference on March 19, 2025, at 9:00 AM, with written questions due March 21, 2025, and bid responses issued March 24, 2025. The final bid submission deadline is March 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with a total project duration of four months (30 days for design and 90 days for construction). Contractors will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and installing the ramadas, including concrete footings, with the State handling all demolition work in-house.
While the Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation requirement has been waived, the DVBE incentive program remains active, offering bid preferences ranging from 1-5% based on DVBE participation levels. The estimated project budget is $300,000, with a liquidated damages provision of $250 per calendar day for project delays. The procurement covers Riverside County jurisdictions, including Lake Riverside CDP and Riverside City, and is specifically located on Alessandro Island within Lake Perris State Recreation Area. The State will provide logistical support, including ferry transportation for contractors and a prepared work site, with contractors expected to use galvanized hardware and focus on sustainable, long-lasting materials. No incumbent vendors are mentioned in the documentation, and the project appears to be a new infrastructure improvement initiative aimed at enhancing visitor facilities at the state recreation area.
