About this opportunity

The City of Austin Purchasing Office is requesting quotations on bus pipe (aluminum seamless tubing for electric utility substations) under IFQ 1100 AGM1027, with quotes due October 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. via email to Ahide Garcia. This is an initial SBE/M/WBE priority solicitation; if adequate quotes are not received from certified small or minority/women-owned vendors, the City will post the opportunity online for all registered vendors.

The scope comprises two categories of aluminum pipe to be delivered to Austin Energy – Cameron Warehouse in Pflugerville, Texas. Category 1 requires 546 feet of 2.5-inch tubular aluminum seamless pipe (schedule 40 IPS, 6063-T6 alloy per ASTM B 241 and ANSI H 38.7, 53% IACS conductivity) supplied in 39-foot lengths and capable of accepting 24-inch radius 90-degree bends. Category 2 requires 1,170 feet of 4-inch pipe meeting identical specifications. Approved manufacturers include AFL Global, Alcan Cable, Alcoa Conductor, Alumax Inc., BICC, General May Aluminum, Sapa Industrial Extrusions, and Williams Metals. Lead time is an evaluation factor for best-value determination.

Quotes must be submitted on the City's Pricing Submittal Sheet template with unit prices not exceeding four decimal places. Pricing must be FOB Destination, Prepaid and Allowed, with all freight, handling, and applicable discounts inclusive of the unit price; respondents must not charge separately for administrative, overhead, shipping, or transportation costs. The City is exempt from Federal Excise and State Sales Tax; tax must be excluded from pricing. Respondents must include a signed Offer Sheet, completed Price Sheet, materials specifications, descriptive literature, and Safety Data Sheets for hazardous materials if applicable. All respondents must certify non-debarment status, wage-theft compliance, non-discrimination and non-retaliation policies, and maintain Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability, and Business Automobile Liability insurance with minimum limits of $500,000 per occurrence. Respondents must also certify Lone Star Infrastructure Protection Act compliance if applicable. Award will be made to the lowest responsive offer meeting all minimum qualifications. Payment is due within thirty days of receipt of properly documented invoices upon satisfactory delivery. Quantities listed are estimates and not guaranteed.
