About this opportunity

The Long Beach Public Utilities Department is soliciting bids on miscellaneous water works materials and bronze products under IFB UD-25-219, with bids due December 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. via the Long Beach Buys portal. Questions must be submitted by November 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., with responses posted by November 14 at 3:30 p.m. Addendum 2 extended the due date from the original November 18, 2024 deadline and corrected the bid number; Addendum 1 removed four line items (2,000 units each of 1-1/2" and 1" PE pipe, 200 units of 1" PE inserts, and 20 units of 12-gauge tracer wire); Addendum 3, issued November 22, specifies bid bond submittal procedures requiring sealed, trackable envelope delivery or hand-delivery with timestamped confirmation at either 1841 E. 33rd Street or 1800 E. Wardlow Road.

The scope comprises 85 line items of water works materials and bronze products: bolted couplings (4-inch to 14-inch), valve boxes in cast iron and concrete, pipe repair clamps, flanged coupling adapters, tapping sleeves, bronze water service products (couplings, curb stops, corporation stops, service saddles, angle meter stops, and fire hydrant bodies), polyethylene pipe, tracer wire, and redwood plugs in quantities ranging from 1 to 2,000 units per item. All materials must be new and unused, comply with California Health and Safety Code Section 116875 (lead content ≤ 0.25 percent weighted average), and meet ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for potable water contact. Deliveries must occur within seven business days of release notice, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., to the Water Warehouse at 1841 E. 33rd Street, Long Beach, with all delivery costs included in bid pricing.

The contract term is one year with two optional one-year extensions by mutual agreement. Pricing must be firm for the one-year term with no price adjustments permitted. Bidders must submit a $10,000 bid bond, qualifications documentation, three current customer references, an authorized distributor/dealer statement, and current list pricing with manufacturer's standard warranties. The awarded contractor must maintain adequate emergency stock and provide a 12-month warranty on materials and workmanship from delivery and acceptance. Payment follows within 30 days of invoice upon delivery and acceptance. A valid Long Beach Business License is required before contract execution. A Notice of Intent to Award identifies Ferguson Waterworks as the apparent successful bidder, though final award remains pending contract execution.
