About this opportunity
The Georgia Department of Corrections is soliciting statements of qualifications from registered engineers and architects for professional design and construction administration services on the Valdosta State Prison Boiler Plant & Underground Loop Systems project, with responses due October 14, 2021 at 4:00 PM EST. Respondents must be established firms licensed to practice engineering or architecture with principal offices in Georgia.
The scope encompasses schematic design and design development documents, construction documents, bidding assistance, and full construction contract administration for a central boiler plant and facility-wide underground loop piping system. The project was triggered by a catastrophic failure of one of the prison's large boilers, currently replaced by a rental unit, and requires phased design and installation to maintain facility operations without shutdown. The design professional must conduct weekly site visits and submit weekly site inspection reports during construction administration.
Submission requirements include a Letter of Interest, GSA Standard Form 330 Architect/Engineer Questionnaire, and a notarized Contractor Affidavit in both written and electronic formats. All packages must be mailed or shipped; in-person deliveries are not accepted due to COVID-19 restrictions. Selection criteria are organization, design ability, past performance, ability to meet time requirements, budget limitations, and professional experience. Following initial qualification evaluation, three or more highly qualified firms will be invited for interviews, with an optional site visit available prior to departmental interviews. Contact Fred Hastings, MEP Project Manager, at (678) 628-6581 or Frederick.Hastings@GDC.GA.GOV for additional project information.
