About this opportunity
The St. Johns River Water Management District (the District) is seeking a consultant or agent to provide gopher tortoise mitigation services for the Black Creek Water Resource Development Project in Clay County, Florida. The project involves constructing a treatment area to treat water from Black Creek prior to discharge into Alligator Creek, and the District has identified gopher tortoises present on the site. The selected vendor will be responsible for marking, documenting, and transporting gopher tortoises that have been captured by District staff to a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC) permitted long-term protected recipient site. Respondents must meet minimum qualifications, and quotes must be submitted by 3:00 PM on August 4, 2023. The contract is effective until September 30, 2024, and the pricing structure requires respondents to provide a cost per tortoise (adult and juvenile) rather than a total amount, including any costs associated with meeting District staff for the gopher tortoise transfer.
The District is a tax-exempt political subdivision of the state of Florida, and respondents must provide an estimate of all applicable taxes and fees, including those that fall under the District's exemption. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond, and the District has not provided any information on incumbent vendors or current contractors. The budget range for this procurement has not been disclosed.
