About this opportunity
The City of Dearborn Heights is seeking a qualified contractor for the Berwyn Senior Center Improvements - External Door Replacement Project, located in Wayne County, Michigan. The procurement involves comprehensive exterior door replacement, which includes mandatory asbestos abatement of exterior door caulking and the complete replacement of five exterior doors, including all associated framing and trim. Potential bidders are required to complete a mandatory site visit to accurately assess the project scope, with bid submission deadlines progressively extended through multiple addendums, with the final submission deadline set for October 3, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. Bidders must submit a comprehensive package including a signed and notarized three-page bid response form, a mandatory site visit acknowledgment, and a certified or cashier's check or bid bond representing 5% of the gross bid sum. Evaluation criteria include submission of multiple supporting documents such as non-discrimination clauses, project references, bid itemizations, certificates of good standing, articles of incorporation, liability insurance certificates, and applicable professional licenses.
While no specific set-aside designations are explicitly stated, the bid requirements suggest a competitive procurement process open to contractors with specialized expertise in asbestos abatement and exterior door replacement. Bidders must demonstrate significant qualifications, including the ability to provide a work performance bond for the total winning bid amount before contract signing. Potential contractors will be required to submit qualification documents within ten business days of request and maintain valid liability insurance naming the City of Dearborn Heights. Though the exact budget range is not disclosed in the provided documentation, the project's complexity and requirements indicate a need for a sophisticated, experienced contractor with specific municipal infrastructure renovation capabilities.
