About this opportunity

The Suwannee River Water Management District (the District) is soliciting bids for the Bell Springs #2 Timber Sale, which consists of two areas totaling 43 acres across the Mattair Springs Tract in Suwannee County and the Bell Springs Tract in Columbia County, Florida. Sale Area 1 is a 23-acre marked pine thinning with hardwood harvest, while Sale Area 2 is a 20-acre clear-cut of pine and hardwood. The winning bidder will be expected to enter into a 12-month firm contract within 10 days of award and must chip all non-merchantable hardwood, hardwood tops, and pine tops. The District Project Manager will routinely assess the timber harvest to ensure objectives are met. Bids are due by November 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM EDT, and the contract will be awarded to the bidder with the highest total sale value as determined by the District's estimated product volumes. The contract requires a $5,000 advance payment and a $10,000 damage/security deposit, and the logger harvesting the timber must be a Master Logger with current designation.

The District encourages participation by minority and veteran-owned business enterprises, and the contract includes provisions related to best management practices, listed species, equipment fluids, and recreation concerns. The District does not list any incumbent vendors or current contractors, and there are no requirements for integration with existing infrastructure or technology. The value of the contract is determined by the bid amount submitted by the winning bidder.
