About this opportunity

Millington Community Schools is requesting sealed bids for backup generator system installation at two facilities — Meachum Elementary and Millington Jr/Sr High School — with proposals due November 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. EST at the Kirk Administration Building, and a mandatory pre-bid walkthrough scheduled October 30, 2026 beginning at 1:00 p.m. EDT. This is a prevailing wage project under Michigan Public Act 10 of 2023.

The scope encompasses procurement and installation of natural gas-powered backup generator systems serving kitchen facilities. Meachum Elementary requires a 100 kilowatt/125 kilovolt-ampere unit; the Jr/Sr High School requires a 200 kilowatt/225 kilovolt-ampere unit. Both installations include concrete pads with reinforcing, underground natural gas piping, electrical connections with automatic transfer switches, and compliance with the 2021 Michigan Building Code and 2023 National & Michigan Electrical Code. Contractors must provide shop drawings, operation manuals, maintenance documentation, and manufacturer certifications. All work must be complete by June 30, 2027.

Bidders must submit duplicate sealed proposals with a bid guarantee equal to five percent of the base proposal (valid 60 days) in the form of a money order, certified check, or bid bond. The successful bidder must furnish performance and labor-material payment bonds each equal to 100 percent of the contract value. All bidders must provide sworn, notarized disclosure statements certifying compliance with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act and disclosing familial relationships with school board members, the superintendent, or district employees. Contractor liability insurance must include minimum general liability of $1 million, umbrella coverage of $3 million, and statutory workers' compensation limits.

Millington Community Schools reserves the right to reject any or all bids in whole or in part, waive informalities, and approve all subcontractors. Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder. Addendum One was issued October 19, 2026, and all prospective bidders must acknowledge receipt and incorporate its terms into their proposals. Bidding documents are available electronically through the State of Michigan Buy4Michigan Office and the Architect's office without deposit.
