About this opportunity
The City of Aurora, Colorado is requesting bids on the FY26 Aurora Communication Infrastructure Upgrade project (Bid No. 6153A) under ITB, with bids due October 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Mountain Time, a mandatory pre-bid conference on October 6 at 11:00 a.m. via Microsoft Teams, and a requirement that bidders hold active CDOT prequalification status prior to submission.
The scope includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and services to construct underground fiber infrastructure at intersections along and adjacent to I-225 and above-ground network improvements at two locations, connecting City of Aurora-operated traffic signals on CDOT roadways to the City's central traffic signal system. The upgraded infrastructure will enable real-time remote monitoring, faster incident response, and more efficient maintenance; improve traffic operations during incidents, severe weather, and special events through enhanced signal coordination; and increase reliability, redundancy, and capacity of the City's traffic signal communications network. Work must be completed within seventy working days from Notice to Proceed, except Landscape Establishment.
The estimated project budget ranges from $1.37 million to $1.507 million. The project is funded in part by federal assistance from the Federal Highway Administration through CDOT and must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and EEO requirements. For contracts exceeding $250,000, large businesses must demonstrate good faith efforts to award at least 10% of subcontracting dollars to Small Business Enterprises unless performing 100% of work with their own workforce. Each bid requires a bid bond of not less than 5% of the bid amount. Written questions are due October 12 at 3:00 p.m. The City will award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder and reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The successful bidder must execute the contract agreement and furnish required Performance and Payment Bonds and Insurance Certificates within ten calendar days of Notice of Award.
Opportunity text
The project consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary to construct underground fiber infrastructure at intersections along and adjacent to I-225, along with above-ground network improvements at two locations, to connect City of Aurora-operated traffic signals on Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) roadways to the City's central traffic signal system. This connection will enable real-time remote monitoring, faster incident response, and more efficient maintenance by allowing staff to detect issues, dispatch personnel, and update signal timing plans without traveling to the field. The upgraded fiber network will also improve traffic operations during incidents, severe weather, and special events, enhance signal coordination through centralized time synchronization, and increase the reliability, redundancy, and capacity of the City's traffic signal communications network.
