About this opportunity

The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking as-needed aquatic weed and algae growth control services through a Request for Statements of Qualifications (RFSQ) to establish a Master Agreement. The procurement aims to consolidate all aquatic growth control services for multiple county lake facilities under a single contract. Qualified contractors must possess a valid California Pest Control Business License, an Agricultural Pest Control Advisor License (Category E), a Qualified Applicator's License (Category F), and demonstrate a minimum of three years of experience within the last five years providing aquatic weed and algae growth control services. A Contractor's Conference was held on October 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at The Arboretum of Los Angeles County, where contractors were encouraged to submit questions and receive site visit scheduling information. Statements of Qualifications were due by 12:00 noon on October 16, 2018, at the Department of Parks and Recreation Contracts Division in Alhambra, California. Contractors submitting SOQs after the initial deadline would be evaluated only after initial Master Agreements had been executed.

The RFSQ does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. No incumbent vendors or current contractors were identified in the provided documentation. The procurement appears to be open to qualified pest control and aquatic management service providers who meet the specified licensing and experience requirements. While the exact award value or budget range was not disclosed in the documents, the contract is structured as a Master Agreement for as-needed services across multiple county lake facilities. The procurement method suggests a potential multiple-award contract approach, allowing the county flexibility in selecting and utilizing qualified contractors for aquatic growth control services as needed. The comprehensive nature of the RFSQ indicates a significant ongoing need for specialized aquatic ecosystem management services across Los Angeles County's park and recreational lake facilities.
