About this opportunity

Glen Lake Community Schools in Maple City, Michigan is issuing a Request for Proposal for the design and installation of a comprehensive armed intruder security alarm system. The procurement seeks an integrated security solution that includes shot sensors, pull stations, wearable remotes, universal audio alarms, visual flashing indicators, and staff-to-law enforcement communication platforms. The suggested design specifications include 28 shot sensors, 103 pull stations, 10 wearable remotes, and 43 strobe lights distributed throughout the campus; however, vendors may submit quotes for the suggested design, alternate configurations, or both. Bidders must provide company information, employee qualifications, references from K-12 institutions, detailed component specifications, warranty and support information, and certifications regarding Iran economic sanctions compliance and familial relationships with school board members. A mandatory project walkthrough is scheduled for Monday, May 14, 2018 at 4:00 PM, and sealed bids must be submitted in person, by courier, mail, or email to LeAnn Eustice, Business Manager, no later than 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, with public bid reading occurring at that time. Award decisions will be based on solution quality, vendor reputation and reliability, experience, service options, references, and cost. The school board's recommendation is expected by June 30, 2018, with installation timelines to be arranged with the selected vendor.

The RFP does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions limiting responses to particular types of organizations. Glen Lake Community Schools will integrate the armed intruder system with existing infrastructure, including an Informacast-based public address system, Cisco WiFi network, Axis security camera system, DSX door server, and Cisco POE wired network with UPS backup power. Pricing must include all hardware, installation, software support, and monitoring services with no payment due until results are tested and meet the satisfaction of designated school officials. Liquidated damages of 1 percent per business day will be assessed for delays, with potential project cancellation and 5 percent damages if work extends more than 10 business days past the agreed completion date. The budget range is not specified in the RFP. The district reserves the right to select multiple vendors if the optimal solution requires it and may reject any or all bids at its discretion.
