About this opportunity
Southgate Community Schools is seeking a contractor for the Anderson Site Lighting and Electrical project at Southgate Anderson High School in Wayne County, Michigan. The procurement involves comprehensive electrical and lighting infrastructure installation, specifically requiring the supply and installation of ten single-head lights and poles, two double-head lights and poles, eight sport lights and poles, and thirteen bollard light poles with complete electrical wiring connections. The project mandates compliance with ASHRAE 90.1-2013 standards, with lighting controls integrated into the district's Building Management System and separate on/off controls for tennis court lighting. All light poles and bollards must be square-styled to match existing campus infrastructure, and the contractor will be responsible for site restoration, debris removal, and obtaining necessary permits. The solicitation was posted on December 2, 2024, with proposals due by December 13, 2024. Contractors are required to submit detailed plans and may propose alternate lighting packages subject to district review and approval. Key deliverables include full electrical installations, wiring connections, occupancy sensors for parking lot and driveway lights, and electrical box rough-ins for future power accommodation.
While no specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements were explicitly mentioned in the documentation, the project appears open to qualified electrical contractors with demonstrated capabilities in complex educational facility infrastructure projects. The contract will utilize AIA A105-2017 as a modified agreement, indicating standard construction contract protocols. Warranty requirements are specified, including a 10-year warranty for roadway, parking lot, and bollard fixtures, and a 25-year warranty for sports lighting. Though a specific budget range was not disclosed, the comprehensive scope suggests a substantial investment in site infrastructure modernization. Trenching and boring specifications are defined, with boring required under new asphalt and sidewalks, indicating technical complexity that will likely require experienced electrical and site development contractors. The project represents a significant upgrade to Anderson High School's lighting and electrical systems, with a focus on energy efficiency, modern infrastructure, and future-ready electrical accommodations.
