About this opportunity

The City of Tampa Parks & Recreation Department is requesting quotes for tree planting and establishment services on the AARP E. 12th Avenue Sidewalk Tree Planting project, with quotes due September 29, 2026.

The scope includes furnishing, installing, and maintaining 11 trees — 6 White Geigers (Codaria boissieri, Grade #1, 1.5–2 inch caliper, 8 feet or greater height) and 5 Simpson Stoppers (Myrcianthes fragrans, Grade #1, 1.3–1.5 inch caliper, 7 feet or greater height) — along E. 12th Street between N. 15th Street and N. 17th Street. Installation work encompasses planting, backfilling, mulching with Florimulch at 2 bags per tree, initial watering, and staking per specifications. The contractor must maintain all trees for one year following installation, including hand watering by truck three times weekly for the first four weeks, then twice weekly through week 26, continuing through week 52, plus weeding, pruning, fertilization, litter removal, and warranty-period tree straightening. All plant material must meet Florida Grade No. 1 or better per Division of Plant Industry and American Association of Nurseryman standards and carry a one-year establishment and maintenance guarantee.

Contractors must perform at least 51 percent of work with their own forces unless written approval for greater subcontracting is obtained. All bidders must provide proof of insurance prior to award and comply with the City's ethics code, non-discrimination requirements, Florida Public Records Law, and E-Verify employee verification. Contractors are responsible for verifying site conditions, underground utility locations, and contractor-caused utility damage repair costs. Quote prices must remain valid for a minimum of 60 days. Submissions are electronic through the OpenGov solicitation distribution system. The City reserves the right to award by division, line item, or aggregate total and to reject any or all quotes. Payment is due approximately 30 days after receipt and acceptance of materials, invoices, and subcontractor payment forms.
