About this opportunity

Durand Area Schools is soliciting sealed bids for Bid Package #4 - Robert Kerr Addition, a comprehensive construction project at Robert Kerr Elementary School in Durand, Michigan, located within Van Buren County and Douglas City. The project encompasses the construction of a new gymnasium with upper walking track, a four-classroom addition, common spaces, and minor renovations to the existing building, organized into 22 bid categories covering multiple construction trades including earthwork, concrete, masonry, metals, roofing, electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems. Work is scheduled to commence immediately for earthwork and site utilities, with most trades performing construction activities from summer 2021 through completion by late August 2022. A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the office trailer north of Robert Kerr Elementary School. Sealed bids in triplicate must be submitted by 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, addressed to Craig McCrumb, Superintendent, at 310 N. Saginaw Street, Durand, MI 48429, and bids may not be withdrawn for 60 days after the bid date. Plans, specifications, and addendums are available for download from R.C. Hendrick's online plan room at www.rchendrick.com, with addendums posted no later than 12:00 noon the day before the bid due date, and project inquiries should be directed to Don Erndt, Project Superintendent, at don@rchendrick.com or (989) 280-3309.

All bidders are required to provide a sworn and notarized familial disclosure statement in compliance with MCL 380.1267 confirming any familial relationships between the bidder and members of the school board, intermediate school board, superintendent, or chief executive officer. Bids exceeding $50,000 must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond from a Michigan-approved surety company in an amount not less than five percent of the base bid. R.C. Hendrick & Son, Inc. serves as the Construction Manager and Owner's Representative. The procurement documents do not identify any specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises, incumbent vendors, or current contractors. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the advertisement; however, the project's scope and multi-trade organization suggest a substantial capital construction project. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities in bidding procedures.
