About this opportunity
Maricopa County is seeking a comprehensive Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) 3G Position training program for its workforce, with a procurement aimed at securing a two-week welding course for 4-5 employees, to be conducted twice annually. The training will occur Monday through Thursday from 0500-1530 at the vendor's premises, focusing on AWS structural steel qualification in the vertical position. The 60-hour course requires vendors to provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and deliver a curriculum that combines technical instruction and hands-on training, with specific objectives including demonstrating welding safety, proper equipment setup, and passing the AWS 3G vertical position qualification on 3/8 plate with backing. The solicitation (ID: 6812049bbf0cb68e0703d776) was posted on April 29, 2025, with proposals due by May 21, 2025. The contract includes an initial one-year term with options for two additional one-year renewals under the same pricing and terms, and vendors must submit a completed Supplemental Pricing Sheet along with their proposal.
The procurement does not specify explicit set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Potential vendors must meet comprehensive insurance requirements, comply with background check provisions, and adhere to ethical conduct standards. The solicitation indicates that Maricopa County reserves the right to award the contract to multiple vendors, suggesting potential for competitive bidding. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, vendors are required to provide a per-person cost for the training course. The county's procurement guidelines include stringent requirements such as immigration verification, compliance with federal administrative standards, and prohibitions against using forced labor. Vendors will need to demonstrate technical expertise in welding instruction, ability to deliver a structured 60-hour training program, and capability to host on-site training sessions with appropriate equipment and facilities.
