About this opportunity
The State of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife is requesting quotes for up to 2,000 adult ring-neck pheasants with quotes due April 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. local time. A local-preference tie-breaker applies: in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine receive preference in case of equal bids.
The State procures on behalf of the Windham/Gorham Rod & Gun Club, which will place orders through the Division of Purchases. All birds must be fully feathered with tail feathers averaging at least 8 inches, weigh a minimum of 2.5 pounds for males and 2.0 pounds for females, and be certified disease-free for pullorum, typhoid, West Nile Virus, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases by a veterinarian or state agricultural authority. A sex ratio of at least 50% males is required. Birds must be strong flyers and transported in new or properly disinfected crates.
Delivery is to the Wells Transportation Facility/Amtrak Station at Maine Turnpike Exit 19 in the morning, preferably before 9:00 a.m. An initial delivery of at least 600 birds must occur prior to October 1, with at least two additional stockings prior to November 1 and a minimum of one week between subsequent deliveries. Any dead, injured, or missing birds must be replaced by the provider at no additional cost prior to final release of the season.
The State reserves the right to reject any birds not meeting criteria and to inspect the provider's facility. Pricing must be submitted as separate unit prices delivered to destination with all trade or quantity discounts included. All transportation charges must be prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. Cash discounts of 20 days or more are factored into award decisions; discounts under 20 days are not. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine State Sales and Use Taxes.
