About this file
This is a specifications document for adult ring-neck pheasants issued by the State of Maine, Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, in coordination with the Windham/Gorham Rod & Gun Club. The State of Maine seeks to procure up to 2,000 adult ring-neck pheasants that meet specific health, physical, and quality standards. The initial delivery of at least 600 birds must be scheduled prior to October 1, with at least two additional stockings required prior to November 1, with a minimum of one week between subsequent deliveries. All deliveries are to be made to the Wells Transportation Facility/Amtrak Station, located off The Maine Turnpike at Exit 19, in the morning and preferably before 9:00 a.m. The provider will be selected based on their ability to deliver the greatest number of birds meeting all specified health, quality, and delivery criteria at competitive pricing.
Birds must be certified disease-free for pullorum, typhoid, West Nile Virus, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases by a veterinarian or state agricultural authority, with documentation required prior to delivery. All birds must be fully feathered with tail feathers averaging at least 8 inches in length, weigh a minimum of 2.5 pounds for males and 2.0 pounds for females, and be strong flyers. A sex ratio of at least 50% males is required. Transport crates must be new or properly disinfected. The State of Maine reserves the right to reject any birds not meeting the criteria and to inspect the provider's facility. Any dead, injured, or missing birds must be replaced by the provider at no additional cost prior to final release of the season. The lowest responsible bidder's price will be awarded to the Windham/Gorham Rod & Gun Club, which will place orders on behalf of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.
