About this opportunity
The state and local contract opportunity is a roof repair and recover project for the Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) Academic Building, located in Craig, Colorado, within Ouray County. The procurement involves comprehensive roof system modifications, including the removal of existing roof layers and installation of a new fully adhered black EPDM membrane roof assembly system. Specific project requirements include relief cutting existing membrane in a 10'x10' grid pattern, installing new fire-treated gypsum coverboard, and replacing wet or damaged insulation. The project mandates furnishing and installing new flashings and sheet metal components such as fascia metal, parapet caps, counter-flashings, and roof jacks. A critical project timeline stipulates substantial completion within 30 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, with sealed bids due on August 25, 2023, at 9:00 AM. A mandatory pre-bid conference was held virtually on August 17th, 2023, and the anticipated construction start is scheduled for September-October 2023.
While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations were explicitly detailed, the project may trigger prevailing wage requirements if the construction contract reaches or exceeds $500,000. The contract appears to be open to qualified roofing contractors capable of executing complex roof system modifications. Although a specific budget range was not provided, the comprehensive scope of work suggests a potentially significant project investment. The project requires technical expertise in roof system assemblies, including working with metal roof decks, EPDM membranes, and specialized installation techniques. Contractors must demonstrate proficiency in mechanical attachment of materials, particularly ensuring fasteners penetrate tongue and groove decking to a minimum 1-inch depth without compromising exposed soffits. The project is identified under the procurement code CNCC FY23-010 and involves precise technical specifications for roof system recovery and replacement.
