About this opportunity
Danville State Hospital is requesting bids for meat items to supply the facility during October, November, and December 2026, with bids due August 12, 2026 through the PA Supplier Portal. Executive Order 2010_03 directs all Commonwealth agencies to prioritize Pennsylvania-produced agricultural products when available at competitive prices — a preference program that applies to this procurement.
The scope includes fresh beef (stew cubes, ground beef, patties, roasts, steaks, sandwiches, meatballs), fresh veal (diced and ground products, patties), fresh pork (ham, ground pork, chops, steaks, diced products), cured and fully-cooked pork (various ham styles, bacon, sausages), cured and dried beef (corned beef), edible by-products (beef liver), and sausage products (frankfurters, bologna, pork sausage, salami, Lebanese bologna, Polish sausage, Italian sausage). All products must comply with USDA Institutional Meat Purchase Specifications (IMPS) and be processed in plants operating under the USDA Meat and Poultry Inspection program. Specifications detail portion sizes, fat-content limits, freezing requirements (frozen items at internal temperatures not exceeding 10°F within 90 days of pack; chilled items at or below 40°F with minimum 30-day shelf life), packaging standards (5–10 lb. units or case quantities, no exceeding 60 pounds per master container), and acceptable brand names including Tyson, Hatfield, Kesslers, Hormel, and Farmland. All chilled products must display production dates by calendar date or coding method. Delivery quantities are estimates only and subject to increase or decrease based on actual facility requirements; the facility may cancel orders with 15 days' notice. Payment is based on actual net weight or count at delivery. Vendors must have no unpaid laboratory fees to be eligible for award and may be required to provide manufacturer documentation and product information sheets.
The contact is Annette Hockenbroch, Purchasing Agent, at (570) 271-4518 or anhockenbr@pa.gov. Electronic bids must be submitted through www.pasupplierportal.state.pa.us.
