About this opportunity

The Maine Department of Transportation is requesting quotes for 30 Road Watch Brand temperature sensors, model 849-0262-003, with quotes due June 7, 2012. In tied-quote situations, preference is given to in-state bidders or those offering Maine-produced or manufactured goods and services.

The sensors are to be delivered FOB Destination to MaineDOT Garage at Wade Street in Augusta, Maine, with billing directed to MaineDOT Fleet Service at 105 Capitol Street, Augusta, Maine 04333. Vendors must submit unit prices with all trade and quantity discounts included. Transportation charges, including freight and express delivery, are prepaid by the contractor unless otherwise specified. The solicitation permits alternate commodities if bidders provide complete identification and descriptive literature; failure to do so constitutes agreement to furnish items as specified.

Award will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, with evaluation considering commodity quality, specification conformity, delivery dates, and overall economy. Cash discounts for payment periods of 20 days or more are evaluated; discounts under 20 days are not considered due to standard accounting procedures. Maine is exempt from Federal and State sales and use taxes; vendors should quote without including these taxes.

All vendor questions must be submitted through the Question and Answer link on the Solicitation Details View page, with responses posted in the same location. Vendors are responsible for logging in to view posted questions and answers; inquiries through other channels will not be considered valid. Electronic quote submission closes at 2:00 p.m. local time on the announced closing day. Bidders may submit additional and alternate bids with supporting documentation via fax or mail prior to bid opening. The State reserves the right to reject any or all quotes, waive formalities and technicalities, increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent, and procure from alternative sources if the contractor defaults, with excess costs charged to the defaulting contractor.
