About this opportunity
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is requesting bids for HVAC unit replacement services at the CAL FIRE Siskiyou Unit Emergency Command Center in Yreka, with bids due October 30, 2026, and a mandatory site walk-through on October 22. This solicitation is restricted to California-certified small businesses only.
The scope comprises replacement of three HVAC units: a 3-ton roof-mounted unit at the north end of the office, a 3-ton server room split system, and a 7.5-ton ground unit at the south end. The contractor must install new equipment, thermostats, electrical disconnect switches, gas piping, drainage lines, and seismic bracing in compliance with California Building Standards Code and EPA regulations. Bidders must provide all-inclusive pricing as a single lump sum covering the three line items. Subcontracting is permitted for crane and disposal services only; all subcontractors must be identified in the Bidder Declaration.
The contractor must hold a C20 contractor license for warm-air heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning work and provide proof of current registration with the California Department of Industrial Relations. If the total bid amount exceeds $1,000, prevailing wage requirements apply; the contractor must maintain detailed payroll records and submit certified payrolls with each invoice.
The estimated contract term runs from November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2027, with a one-year renewal option at the same terms and conditions. Work is to be performed during normal working hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except state holidays. Payment is made as a single lump sum in arrears only after 100 percent of physical installation work is completed and the final walkthrough is signed off by the CAL FIRE Project Representative. Questions are due October 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Site walk-through attendance confirmation is required by October 21.
