About this opportunity

Fayette County, Georgia is requesting bids for construction of a traffic signal at the intersection of Banks Road and Ellis Road under ITB 26136-B, with bids due June 23, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

The scope includes installation of four treated timber poles (CL-2, 40 feet), guy and anchor assemblies, microwave radar detection systems, 3-section and 4-section LED signal heads with 12-inch faces, controller cabinet assemblies (332 model with 2070LX controller units), pull boxes, traffic signal cable, and conduit installation. Work also encompasses thermoplastic traffic striping, warning signs, overhead street name signs, removal of existing rumble strips via hydro-blasting, installation of raised pavement markers, sodding, and directional boring for conduit. The intersection experiences 9,726 vehicles per day on Banks Road and 5,595 vehicles per day on Ellis Road. All materials, devices, and signage must conform to current Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards, AASHTO requirements, and GDOT specifications; devices must meet NCHRP and MASH crashworthiness test procedures. Sign posts, barricades, and traffic control devices must be sourced from the GDOT Qualified Products List.

Material certification is required prior to signal installation. The contractor must coordinate with Coweta-Fayette EMC for power service connections, manage all traffic control costs and maintenance of traffic measures, ensure erosion control compliance, verify radar detection placement in the field, and bear responsibility for monthly power and communication service costs until the signal completes a 30-day uninterrupted operation test period, when utility costs transfer to Fayette County. A bid alternative addresses sidewalk guy anchor assemblies due to right-of-way constraints.

Questions should be directed to Sherry White at swhite@fayettecountyga.gov.
