About this opportunity

Monroe Public Schools is soliciting sealed proposals from Prime Contractors for boiler replacement and related work at two school facilities: Hollywood Elementary School (1135 Riverview Avenue) and Orchard Center High School (1750 Oak Street) in Monroe, Michigan. The Prime Contractor will be responsible for all trades, including subcontractors and suppliers necessary to complete the boiler replacement projects. Interested bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at separate times for each location—Orchard Center High School at 3:30 P.M. and Hollywood Elementary School at 4:15 P.M.—and must sign the official attendance list and obtain official plans and specifications to qualify for the approved bidders list. Sealed proposals are due by Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at the Monroe Public Schools Administration Building. Only contractors on the approved bidders list will have their proposals opened and evaluated. Electronic plan copies are available at no cost from the Monroe Public Schools website, while hard copies may be purchased for $150.00 per set from Kohler Architecture, Inc. All proposals must include a proposal guarantee in the form of a certified check or bid bond from an approved surety company equal to five percent (5%) of the proposal amount, and proposals will remain firm for sixty (60) days following official bid opening.

The procurement does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions limiting responses to particular types of organizations or disadvantaged enterprises. However, all bidders must provide sworn and notarized disclosure statements in compliance with Michigan Public Act 380.1267 regarding any familial relationships with board members or school district employees, and must comply with the Iran Economic Sanctions Act (Michigan Public Act No. 517 of 2012). The successful Contractor will be required to furnish performance, labor, and material bonds, each in the full amount of the proposal if payments are issued prior to completion and the contract value is $50,000.00 or more. No specific budget range or award value is disclosed in the procurement documents. The Owner reserves the right to waive any irregularities, reject any or all bids, or accept the bid deemed to best serve the Owner's interests. The project will be advertised on Buy4Michigan.com and with various construction industry organizations and data services.
