About this opportunity
The Town of Cheshire, Connecticut is requesting bids for the installation of a wooden boardwalk within Mixville Park under ITB 2526-25, with bids due July 22, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Cheshire Town Hall, Room 213. A mandatory pre-bid conference is required; the Town's website provides the specific date and location. A 25% set-aside applies to DAS-certified small and minority-owned businesses, with 25% of that allocation reserved for minority, women, and disabled-owned businesses.
The scope encompasses approximately 760 linear feet of wooden boardwalk to complete a walking loop within the park and connect to existing concrete sidewalk sections. Work includes erosion control, earth excavation, site grading, anchor installation, boardwalk framing, filter fabric and drainage stone placement, and restoration of disturbed areas. Two base bids are required: Base Bid "A" is a lump sum for all work within the designated boundaries including ramps to the beach area, and Base Bid "B" is a unit price per linear foot for potential future boardwalk expansion. Base Bid "A" must be substantially completed within 60 consecutive calendar days from Notice to Proceed with no winter shutdown allowance; liquidated damages of $500 per calendar day apply for delay. Work is limited to Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with contractor supervision required onsite during all work hours.
The project is funded through the State of Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) and is subject to Connecticut prevailing wage requirements. Bidders must submit a 5% proposal bond or certified check and furnish performance bonds and labor and material payment bonds from T-List sureties rated minimum "A-" VIII. Insurance requirements include general liability ($1,000,000 per occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate), auto liability ($1,000,000 combined single limit), and umbrella coverage ($1,000,000 each occurrence / $2,000,000 aggregate), with the Town of Cheshire and State of Connecticut named as additional insureds. The contractor must obtain all necessary permits and maintain Call-Before-You-Dig compliance. Anticipated notice of award is August 5, 2026; contract execution by August 12, 2026. Questions are due July 13, 2026 at 4:00 PM EDT.
