About this opportunity
Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL) is soliciting a Request for Proposals (RFP #GCPL-2401) for the comprehensive replacement of wireless infrastructure across 15 of its 16 library locations. The procurement seeks qualified vendors to deploy Wi-Fi 6 and/or Wi-Fi 6E access points to replace the current infrastructure of 147 existing access points, with the project requiring both leasing and purchasing options for equipment. Key deliverables include the installation of new wireless access points, optimization of AP placement, addressing areas with low signal strength, and providing all necessary mounting hardware and cabling. Vendors must submit detailed proposals with separate line item costs for AP licensing, hardware, and installation by location, with optional managed internal broadband services available. The RFP includes a comprehensive evaluation process, with written questions due by February 14, 2025, proposal responses published by February 21, 2025, and proposals due by February 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM ET. The evaluation committee will review proposals from March 3-5, 2025, conduct vendor interviews March 6-7, 2025, and present the contract to the Library Board in March 2025. The library will evaluate proposals based on multiple criteria, not solely on cost, and requires vendors to provide a 5-year warranty on all wiring and mounting.
The RFP does not explicitly specify set-aside designations or restrictions on respondent organizations. The current wireless infrastructure consists of a mix of Meraki and Fortinet access points, primarily using general-purpose two-radio APs (2x2:2 MR33) and some high-density four-radio APs (4x4:4 MR45). Vendors must be prepared to integrate with and potentially replace this existing technology infrastructure. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed in the provided documentation, the comprehensive nature of the project involving 15 library locations suggests a substantial procurement opportunity. The RFP includes detailed floor plans showing existing AP locations and areas of low signal strength for most facilities, with the exception of the Snellville location. Potential vendors should note that the 16th library location will be added in the summer of 2025, which may represent an additional future expansion opportunity. The project requires a sophisticated understanding of wireless networking infrastructure, placement optimization, and the ability to provide both hardware and installation services across multiple library facilities.
