About this opportunity

The Augusta, Georgia Transit Department is seeking information from vendors through a Request for Information (RFI) regarding bus transit fare collection technology. The RFI aims to gather details on the current and near-future state of fare collection methods, features, and technology to guide the development of a future Request for Proposals (RFP) for new fare collection equipment. The agency is looking to replace its current cash-based fare collection system with new technology that offers enhanced convenience, reliability, and equity for riders, as well as cost savings and improved data collection for the agency. The RFI outlines the agency's specific areas of interest, including account-based fare payment methods, various fare media options, automatic fare collection systems, fare capping, and integration with third-party applications.

The RFI is open to all interested vendors, and no award will be made from this process, as its purpose is to gather information only. Responses to the RFI are due on March 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. and must be submitted as one original and two copies. The RFI does not provide any details regarding set-aside designations, incumbent vendors, or budget ranges, as this is an information-gathering exercise to inform the future RFP development.
