About this opportunity
The University of Wisconsin Stout is conducting a Request for Bid (RFB) for the procurement of six (6) South Bend SB1049F lathe machines for its Engineering and Technology Department. The specified lathes are 13" x 30" gearhead models with Fagor digital readout (DRO) systems, featuring a 3 HP single-phase motor, 80-2000 RPM spindle speeds, MT #5 spindle taper, and comprehensive feed and thread capabilities. Bidders must submit responses by June 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. CST/CDT via email to Stephanie Ganz, the Procurement Specialist. Questions were due by May 27, 2022, with an estimated contract award date of June 17, 2022. Vendors must be original manufacturers, authorized distributors, or dealer-authorized representatives with a minimum of three years of experience providing South Bend lathes, and must submit three client references from comparable institutions. The procurement requires a one-year minimum warranty on parts and labor, with comprehensive paper and digital equipment manuals.
The contract is open to all University of Wisconsin System campuses, State of Wisconsin agencies, and Wisconsin municipalities, with potential opportunities for Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) or Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (DVB) certified vendors to receive a 5% price preference. Bidders must provide one million dollars in commercial general liability and automobile liability coverage. The University may conduct pre-award oral presentations, product demonstrations, or vendor site visits at its discretion. Pricing must be submitted on an F.O.B. Destination basis, including all delivery charges, freight, insurance, and installation/operation manuals, with bids remaining firm for one year and no price increases permitted during the contract term. While the current procurement is a one-time purchase, there may be potential for an associated maintenance agreement. Bidders are expected to offer governmental and educational discounts, which should be reflected in unit prices.
